Among the ever-growing list of accolades the City of La Crosse has received in recent years, the city was named #19 on the list of best college towns in America by the American Institute of Economic Research (AIER). This ranking stands among cities like Boulder, Colorado (#1) and Rochester, Minnesota (#16); two American towns which are nationally recognized year-in and year-out as a couple of the best areas to receive students enrolled in higher-education. The AIER considers a college town to have a population of 250,000 or less. They compiled the list based on nine economic categories. These economic categories that develop the ranking are based on demographic data and quality-of-life factors. La Crosse was ranked third in labor force participation rates, and first for the labor market’s capacity to absorb young talent, great news for the future graduates of our three prestigious colleges and universities in the area. Congratulations to the City of La Crosse – the recognition is well-deserved!
